HARITON--Leon, a resident of Manhattan and Hudson, NY died peacefully on August 7, 2015 at the age of 95. Born April 4, 1920 in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, Leon received a BA in Accounting from City University of New York (Baruch), and an MA in Psychology from the New School. During World War II he served in the US Army stationed in New Guinea and the Philippines. Leon, a retired senior tax partner of Deloitte, specialized in mergers and acquisitions and was an active member of the New York Tax Study Group. An accomplished sculptor, his works are in corporate and private collections throughout the country. He published two books: his memoir, "The Making of An American", and a work of philosophy, "Humanities 101". An avid chess player, he held national ratings. Leon is survived by his beloved wife, Janet; his three children and their spouses, Frank and Jo Hariton of White Plains, Joel Hariton and Jeanne Pickering of Topsfield, MA, and Edie and Joe Leavengood of Winifred, MT; six grandchildren, a granddaughter-in-law and a great- granddaughter, Sam and Liz and Fiona Grace Hariton, Kate Hariton, Amanda Hariton, Zack Hariton, Jay Leavengood and Sarah Leavengood. A memorial service is planned for September 20, details to be determined. Memorial donations may be directed to the NYU Langone Medical Center. 1/3
