From now on, the diesel-powered Skoda Octavia RS is available with all-wheel drive and a six-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The combination of all-wheel drive and dual-clutch transmission is offered as optional on both the Octavia RS hatch and estate, allowing each of the two models to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 7.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 228 km/h (141 mph).

That’s 0.5 seconds quicker than the front-wheel drive Octavia RS TDI, although top speed drops by 4 km/h (2.5 mph).

Combined fuel consumption is 4.9 l/100 km (57.6 mpg UK or 48 mpg US)m with corresponding CO2 emissions of 129 g/km. As on the front-wheel drive variants, the 2.0-liter TDI turbo diesel engine is rated at 184PS (181hp) and 380Nm (280lb-ft) of torque, available from 1,750 rpm to 3,250 rpm.

According to Skoda, the all-wheel drive system offers “impressive traction performance even on rough terrain.” Another advantage drivers will feel is the improved traction during quick accelerations from standing starts.

In addition to the all-wheel drive system and six-speed dual-clutch transmission, the Skoda Octavia RS 4×4 features the same systems from the front-wheel drive version, including the sports suspension, electronic differential lock XDS+ for dynamic cornering, progressive steering and a host of assistance systems for enhanced safety and comfort.

With the Octavia RS 4×4, Skoda’s 4×4 range now includes nine models: Octavia 4×4, Octavia Combi 4×4, Octavia RS 4×4, Octavia Combi RS 4×4, Octavia Scout, Yeti 4×4, Yeti Outdoor 4×4, Superb 4×4 and Superb Combi 4×4.
