Life is Strange sponsors actual Everyday Heroes photo contest

Square Enix is sponsoring a scholarship fund based on a crucial event in Life is Strange, the company announced today in a press release.

Just like in the game, the Everyday Heroes photography contest focuses on "ordinary people doing extraordinary things." Select photos will be featured in a gallery on the contest's homepage, with the top three finalists receiving special recognition on Square Enix and developer Dontnod Entertainment's social media channels. Finalists will also have their photos framed and signed by the developer.

The company will grant one winner an Everyday Heroes Scholarship Fund, which is worth $10,000. To enter, submissions are accepted on the event's website from now through Feb. 16. Entrants are asked to upload their photos with a title and explanation of their captured "everyday hero."

Life is Strange concluded last fall, and subsequently made it onto our Game of the Year 2015 list. Since the season wrapped, Square Enix has been using the release in service of socially minded endeavors. The photo contest and scholarship is the latest event to use the Everyday Heroes name — earlier this month, Square Enix partnered with anti-bullying organization PACER, soliciting Life is Strange-themed tweets in an effort to fundraise for bullying prevention.
