UPDATE: Portland thieves ditch stolen truck, but take huge haul of tofu

Portland police are looking for a large truck filled with tofu and healthy drinks reported stolen from a Southeast Portland Safeway store.

The report came in at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday that the refrigerated truck was missing from the store at Southeast Powell Boulevard at Southeast Cesar E. Chavez Boulevard, police records show.

The driver told police he went into the store for 20 minutes and when he came out, the truck was gone.

A Portland Police Bureau news release described the protein- and vitamin-packed vehicle as a white 2007 Isuzu box truck with Washington license plates C69952D. The truck is registered to R&K Foods, a Seattle natural foods wholesaler. It has a sticker with the number 99 on the rear door.

Police say anyone who sees the truck should call 911.
