Why is it called “Autopilot” if you’re still required to be at the wheel, right? Wrong!

This has to be one of the most irresponsible ways of using Tesla’s new self-driving system. While others nervously utilize the technology, as the Autopilot function is still in development (with Tesla stressing that you shouldn’t rely 100% on it yet), this guy records himself standing in the backseat, while his Tesla Model S does all the driving, unsupervised, on the freeway, at 83 km/h (51 mph) by itself.

We know it’s called “Autopilot” for a reason, but this is ridiculous.

As humans, it’s in our nature to do crazy things with…anything we get our hands on, and what’s why Tesla CEO, Elon Musk, announced that the American car manufacturer will put some additional constrains on the software. In fact, Forbes reports that during the company’s third-quarter earnings conference call, the entrepreneur addressed this issue by stating:

“We discourage…there have been some fairly crazy videos on YouTube. This is not good. And we will be putting some additional constraints on when Autopilot can be activated to minimize the possibility of people doing crazy things.”

So, yeah, this is why we can’t have nice things.
