15,000 Visitors Expected to Attend Fall Crafts at Lyndhurst

Program includes 300 crafts artists/artisans, demonstrations, kid's activities, live music, food concessionaires and gourmet food stands.

Fall Crafts at Lyndhurst will be held in Tarrytown on September 18-20, 2015. Booths (some in mammoth tents) will display jewelry, clothing, leather, glassware, ceramics, woodwork, scenic photography, sculpture, handcrafted furniture, quilts, pottery, prints, paintings and blown-glass objects.

About 15,000 visitors are expected, Assistant Director Laura Kandel said.

More than 30 food-stand concessionaires and take-home gourmet food-and-beverage exhibitors will participate in the thirty-first annual staging of this event.

Admission costs (cash or check accepted only) for a weekend ticket are: $12 per adult, $11 for seniors (62 or older), $4 for children (6 to 16) and kids under 6 are admitted free. Parking is free on site and at other nearby parking areas with frequent free shuttle-bus service.

The fair begins each day at 10 a.m. and closes at 5 p.m. on Friday and Sunday and at 6 p.m. on Saturday.

Live music will be provided by the Lindsey Webster Band on Saturday and Sunday with special emphasis on Rhythm and Blues (dancing encouraged).

Jill Liflander (Jilly Puppets of Sleepy Hollow), a puppeteer, will entertain on Saturday and Sunday. Liflander teaches at SUNY Purchase and her puppet shows are an ongoing activity at the Greenburgh Nature Center in Scarsdale, NY.

Activities for children also include face painting, storytelling, and balloon animal making. Stilt walkers will prance about the grounds.

Other activities include Shibumi silk scarf making under the guidance of Patricia Disantis and a making wheel-thrown pottery demonstration by Scott Martin (see photo).

Three new Westchester-County based exhibitors (did not appear at the 2015 Spring Crafts at Lyndhurst) will introduce their wares: tapestry coat maker Lynn Pullman (Bedford), jeweler Suzanne Schwartz (Katonah), and felted scarf maker Janet Sikirica (Dobbs Ferry).
