Next-Gen Mercedes A-Class Might Make It To The North American Market

After the A-Class underwent a “fit and spicy overhaul” it seems that everybody wants a piece of it.

The current model has nothing in common with the previous two generations, and its intriguing, dynamic looks makes wanting a compact car a pretty cool thing. No wonder that its derivatives (the CLA and the GLA) are so well received by the public, especially in the U.S.

In fact, Mercedes’ entry-level automobile in the United States – the CLA – is doing so well that the German car manufacturer apparently considers offering the front-wheel-drive, diminutive A-Class for sale.

For some reason, Mercedes hasn’t made available the “plain” A-Class in North America, but it seems that will change with the arrival of the next-gen little Merc. According to The Detroit Bureau, Mercedes officials suggested that the future A-Class will probably make its U.S. debut. Unfortunately, that means the current, third-generation model (along with the 375 hp A45 AMG variant) won’t be available in the States.

Moreover, the magazine suggests that the automobile won’t be imported from Europe, but it will rather be built on the American continent at the all-new assembly line that Daimler and Renault-Nissan is developing in Aguas Caliente, Mexico. The plant will produce the first Mercedes-branded cars beginning with 2018, so if you’re living stateside and want an A-Class, then patience is the word you’re looking for.
