Idris Elba fans, please look away.

Rumblings are growing that Mad Max: Fury Road star Tom Hardy might be the next James Bond. BoyleSports, an Irish bookmaker site, shows that betters are predicting that Hardy will land the coveted spy role when Daniel Craig decides to step down.

"The Mad Max actor is now 4/1 from 6/1 to become the new 007 with currently both Idris Elba and Damian Lewis locked together at the head of the betting at 3/1," the site predicts.

Yes, Elba is now tied for second with Lewis, of Homeland fame. Henry Cavill and Michael Fassbender also rounded up the group of top five Bond contenders.

The news comes on the heels of James Bond author Anthony Horowitz saying that Elba was "too street" to play the spy role, prompting heavy backlash. Horowitz quickly issued an apology, saying he was "mortified" to have offended anyone. Elba responded to the whole thing with a simple, funny Instagram post.

For his part, Tom Hardy is certainly a force to be reckoned with. He's starred in blockbusters like The Dark Knight Rises and Inception, and polished up his action resumé with the summer smash Mad Max -- which gave him experience that would serve him well in the role of Bond.

However, we're still going to hold out for #TeamIdris until any sort of recasting is confirmed. He's the Bond the people need!
