Its all-glass and aluminum form factor makes the Galaxy Note 5 prettier but more fragile than its predecessors, so if you’re clumsy, you’ll want to keep yours in a case. And you definitely won’t want to drop it from 900 feet, because as you’ll see in the video below, it really doesn’t like it.

If you drop any smartphone from a decent height, it’s going to break. That’s especially true with those made predominantly from glass, like the Galaxy Note 5. But just in case you had any doubts a 900-foot drop would smash one, UnlockRiver used a drone to prove it.

In the four-minute video below, a perfectly good Note 5 is flown up into the air then dropped onto hard concrete. The drop smashes the front and back of the device, and splits its aluminum frame in one corner, causing the handset’s S Pen to become lodged inside.

While this might seem like a pointless test, there will surely be someone out there who has thought about strapping their Note 5 to a drone to record some 4K footage from the air. Perhaps this will persuade you that’s not a good idea.

Although the Note 5 is unusable after this test, it continues to charge, its speaker works, and it can even make and receive calls. As a result, UnlockRiver awards the device an “extreme durability score” of 8.0 out of 10.
