The Nintendo Power Glove may not have been a commercial success, but computer engineering grad Nolan Moore has given it a new life as a wireless drone controller. Moore took apart the controller, replacing the ancient Nintendo tech with a state-of-the-art Wi-Fi transmitter, flex sensors, and more.

The controls are pretty simple: A flat hand makes the drone hover in place, while roll and pitch can be controlled by making a fist. Pointing up or down controls altitude, while pointing forwards and twisting controls yaw.

The next step for Moore is to make the Power Glove a universal controller, giving it a swappable wireless interface system. This will make it compatible with Bluetooth, RC, IR, or Wi-Fi, allowing it to connect with pretty much anything. Maybe someday it'll even be advanced enough to act as a decent Nintendo controller.
