These detailed designs may look like skillfully painted portraits, but they are actually iced sugar cookies. The mind behind these brilliant biscuits is Japanese artist/baker Chihiro Ogura. She runs a small, independent baking company named ANTOLPO that produces a collection of amazing custom cookie creations. Despite the fact that they are sculpted from dough and icing, Ogura’s products could pass for miniature painted masterpieces.
Posting her work to a delicious Instagram account, Ogura demonstrates her range of decorative abilities with cookies that reference East Asian cultural motifs as well as some that are just really, really cute. From rooster cookies replicated in the style of Ito Jakuchu, an artist known for his bird paintings, to samurai amour and delicious recreations of the Japanese God’s Fujin and Raijin, Ogura’s creations are both incredibly detailed and remarkably playful.
