New York tabloids go three-for-three with ‘Crying Shame’ headlines

The headline writers for New York's tabloid newspapers are willing to twist the English language, and good taste, to great lengths to get a good pun or clever turn of phrase on their front pages, but all three settled on the same headline on Thursday.

After Wednesday night's near-trade between the Brewers and the Mets led to the odd sight of Wilmer Flores crying on the field, believing he had been traded, the New York Daily News, New York Post, and Newsday all led the sports sections with “Crying Shame” as the headline.

Flores believed he was part of the deal that was sending Brewers slugger Carlos Gomez to the Mets that had been reported by multiple sources on social media, but fell apart before it could be completed.
