Turn on Your TV With Amazon Echo Thanks to Samsung SmartThings Support

The Amazon Echo continues to gain features, with the latest being support for SmartThings from Samsung. If you plan on picking up a Samsung SmartThings Hub off of Amazon (currently available through pre-order for $99), users can tell Alexa to, “Turn on the TV.” Or if you have a SmartPower Outlet, you can ask her to, “Turn on the lamp,” or porch light.

Samsung’s SmartThings devices are not the only options compatible, with Amazon listing out plenty of choices for your smart home, including the WeMo Switch, OSRAM lightbulbs, and many more.

Connecting the devices to Amazon Echo seems painless enough, as everything gets controlled from the Amazon Echo application. As for my Amazon Echo, I seem to only use it as a fancy kitchen timer these days, but that may change with this new functionality.

Do you have Alexa in your home?
