Solange Knowles has been awarded a key to the city of New Orleans. The singer wrote on Twitter, "I can't put into words how grateful I am to be given the Key to the City! NEW ORLEANS, from the bottom of my soul, I am so thankful." This pleasant news follows some more unfortunate news of Solange losing her wedding ring last night in the city during a parade. She was in New Orleans as the city's honorary Queen of the Krewe of Muses at this year's Mardi Gras. A reward is reportedly being offered for any news on the whereabouts of the ring that she lost along St. Charles Avenue, according to ABC.

Fortunately, Solange's son, Daniel Julez Smith, Jr, put the whole incident in perspective. "My son said, mom I'm just happy YOU didn't fly off the float, & that your safe, & that you still get to have the love you have. *tears dried," she wrote. Solange's honor as the new key holder to New Orleans is a positive change from the singer's recent tweets calling out a New York Times critic.
