The four-bedroom home which featured in the film Silence of the Lambs has finally sold for $US195,000.

The Fayette County house had been on the market for quite some time and was last listed for $US249,000.

The fictional home of Buffalo Bill may have turned off some, but local agent Dianne Wilk says the buyer fell for the property after spotting it online.

The fact that [the house] was in the movie is probably what caught his eye. He was not looking in that area at all.” But once he took a look, “he just fell in love with it”, ” Wilks tells realtor.com.

The Victorian house had been home to the Lloyd family, who want to downsize.

The torture pit from the film is not part of the house, those scenes were filmed on a sound stage.

But here is a look at the features which may have attracted the buyer.
