Bryan Fuller’s American Gods has added Emily Browning to the roster.

Browning, best known for her role as Violet in A Series of Unfortunate Events (2004) and as Babydoll in Sucker Punch (2011), will portray Laura Moon, wife to Shadow (The 100‘s Ricky Whittle).

In the series, we meet Laura as she prepares for Shadow’s pending release from prison. “Little does she know that she will go on an unexpected journey that leads her to an epiphany about her relationship and affords her a second chance to get things right,” adds a network press release.

“I’ve been fascinated by Emily Browning since A Series of Unfortunate Events,” said author Neil Gaiman in a statement. “She has a challenge ahead of her: Laura is a tricky character, and the Laura on the screen is even trickier and more dangerous than the one on the page. She’s going to have a wonderful time bringing Laura to life.”

She brings a fascinating spark of life to every role she inhabits and we are tickled she will be lighting up Laura Moon and bringing her to life in more ways than one on American Gods.”

Along with Whittle, the Aussie actress joins Ian McShane (Mr. Wednesday) in the American Gods cast. The series is set to begin shooting in April; a release date has not yet been set.
