Skype for Android updated with new Material Design UI for tablets

Skype has updated its Android app with Material Design features UI designed for tablets. The latest update bumps the app to version 7.0.

There is a new floating action button (FAB) that makes it faster to send messages and start voice and video calls with friends or groups directly from the main screen of the app. The FAB gives you quick access to important features like messaging, voice, video calls and Skype bots.

Next up, the refreshed UI offers multitasking as it comes with a multi-pane view when in landscape orientation that lets you send messages, files  by simply flipping the device during a video call. The update brings improved universal search to Android tablets, making it easier and quicker to find contacts, chats, groups and Skype bots, right from the main screen of the app.

Moreover, now when you sign in to Skype you will see all of your device’s address book contacts displayed in your Skype contact list. You can click the “invite” button next to their name and they will receive a message with all the info they need to get started.
