Empire season finale preview: Who's getting married?

Even Scrabble night with the Lyon family would be dramatic, so just imagine how nuts it’s gonna get when Empire throws a wedding for its second season finale on May 18.

EP Ilene Chaiken won’t reveal who gets hitched (two people are definitely wed by the end) but says that Lucious (Terrence Howard) and Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) will be worried about more than a hangover following these nuptials. “Lucious’ crimes — and even some of Cookie’s — are coming home to roost,” explains Chaiken. “It’s a payoff that’s also the beginning of a real deep dive into Lucious and Cookie’s past and the ghosts that never stop haunting them.”

Likely playing a part in all this is the arrival of one of those ghosts: Shyne Johnson (rapper Xzibit), who is well-versed in Lucious’s criminal past. Says Chaiken, “He’ll be with us in season 3 and a big part of our story.”

Weddings often bring people together and Chaiken teases that Lucious and Cookie will be feeling more friendly towards each other. Says the executive producer, “By the time we get to the finale, there’s going to be a very deep connection. They’re going have gone through a couple more major events that are both shaking and, at the same time, unifying.”

But one question remains: Who will catch the bouquet?
