India men’s hockey team captain Sardar Singh is set to marry long-time girlfriend Ashpal Kaur Bhogal. The news was confirmed by Ashpal on Twitter on Friday.

NEW DELHI: India men’s hockey team captain Sardar Singh is set to marry long-time girlfriend Ashpal Kaur Bhogal. The news was confirmed by Ashpal on Twitter on Friday.
Ashpal, born in England, was the first British Asian woman to represent England in hockey in 2010 as part of junior women’s hockey team and plays club hockey in the Investec Women's Premier League for Beeston hockey club.The duo had met during the 2012 London Olympics, where India had finished last.
The Indian men’s team is currently on a European tour in preparation for the FIH Hockey World League Finals to be held in December.
However, it is unsure whether the duo will tie the knot before the 2016 Rio Olympics.
