Alice Through the Looking Glass: Alice takes on time in exclusive clip

The clock is ticking for the spunky heroine

It’s been six years since Alice (Mia Wasikowska)’s wild adventures last unfolded on the big screen, but by the looks of brand-new clip from the upcoming sequel, plenty has changed — at least when it comes to the matter of the Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp).

In an EW exclusive clip, viewers are introduced to Alice’s mission in Alice Through the Looking Glass, which is help the Mad Hatter from dying of a broken heart over those near and dear to him. The only solution? To venture deep into the past to “save the Hatter’s family,” proposes the White Queen (Anne Hathaway). But to do so, says the White Rabbit (Michael Sheen), Alice will have find and use the Chronosphere, a device that “powers the grand clock of all time.”

And why Alice? Well, According to the White Queen, Alice is the only one of the oddball Wonderland group who can travel back in time, though as the Queen warns Alice, the mission carries a fair share of risk. “If your past self sees your future self,” she tells Alice, “Everything would be history.”

So is Alice prepared to take on risk and danger for the sake of her “truest friend”? Check out the clip above, and watch the James Bobbin-directed movie — which reunites much of the returning cast alongside franchise newcomer Sacha Baron Cohen — when it opens nationwide on Friday.
