WITH the news that the quayside railway tracks in Weymouth have been put into permanent out of use status, we've been contacted by reader Diana Knights.
Mrs Knights, formerly of Weymouth, now of Sherborne, passed on these photos to the Looking Back pages.
They show the boat train travelling along Weymouth Quay.
Mrs Knights said: "It was a postcard. I've always collected postcards of Weymouth.
"These ones are particularly interesting because they are unique, especially if they do take up the line soon."
When she was living in Sherborne Diana would often ride a bike to Weymouth.
"When I was nursing I would ride a bike which I bought for £4.
"I never got it stuck on the railway line. I hope they don't take up the line because of health and safety reasons."
Mrs Knights says she has many happy memories of the boat train when it was 'a slower pace of life.'
She said: "I would go down there when the flourishing spring vegetables came from Jersey and Guernsey.
"I remember the smell of the tomatoes, they were all grown organically and tasted so good."
