Did you really think Radiohead could stay away from the Internet for good?
Just after the band deleted their online presence, their website seems to be back up and running with their latest single, "Burn the Witch." The track, which features lead singer Thom Yorke's signature vocals and Jonny Greenwood's classically influenced musical stylings, was released online Tuesday morning after the band shared a series of teasers.
The track offers a glimpse at the English band's much-anticipated ninth studio album (which still has no release date). However, according to NPR, "Burn the Witch" isn't exactly new. The news organization reports that Radiohead fans have actually known about the track for quite a while, thanks to plenty of rumors and a possible bootleg copy.
The track is accompanied by a claymation video, directed by previous Radiohead collaborator Chris Hopewell. With the use of some classic imagery inspired by "The Wicker Man," the video captures the ominous undertones of the track perfectly.
Set in a picture-perfect town, the clip follows an inspector-type character who comes to visit for a tour. As he walks through the town, he discovers its "sadistic secrets," as It's Nice That puts it. According to Hopewell, "The whole video was conceived, designed, built and animated in 14 days" and was "finished last Thursday."
The song will be available for download across all digital platforms May 4.
