Food Bank for Westchester Valentine's Benefit to 'Take Heart Against Hunger'

There will be wine pairings with a four-course dinner.

The Food Bank for Westchester will hold its annual Valentine’s Day Wine Tasting Dinner Friday, Feb. 5.

The theme of the evening this year will be “Take Heart Against Hunger” and will feature a four-course gourmet meal with selected wine pairings.

Culinary host and sponsor Abigail Kirsch Catering Relationship’s Partner Alison Awerbuch and Excecutive Chef John d’Arcangleo came up with the menu and the pairings.

Wines are being donationed by Pernod Ricard, the wine and spirits sponsor.

The food bank’s president and CEO, Ellen Lynch, said Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to support her cause.

“The event gives us an opportunity to help those who struggle every day to put a meal on their own tables,” she said. “We invite everyone to ‘take heart against hunger’.”

All the proceeds from the event will benefit the Food Bank, which supplies and supports more than 265 hunger-relief membership programs throughout Westchester, including food pantries, soup kitchens, senior and child day-care centers, shelters and residences.

The following tickets and sponsorship packages are available for the Food Bank’s annual Valentine’s Day Wine Tasting Dinner:

  • ·$25,000 Golden Heart Package – Provides 58,139 pounds of healthy food for the hungry for 12 months.
  • $15,000 Red Rose Package – Helps feed more than 7,000 food insecure families for 365 days.
  • $10,000 Cupid’s Arrow Package – Delivers 11,627 pounds of food to hunger relief agencies for a year.
  • $5,000 Amore Package – Supplies nearly 20,000 meals for Westchester residents for a year.
  • $500 Sweetheart VIP Ticket(s) – Helps 950 senior citizens receive much-needed meals during the year.
  • $350 Patron Ticket(s) – Brings 7,000 pounds of fresh produce to hungry residents over 12 months.

The benefit will be held at Tappan Hill Mansion, 81 Highland Ave. in Tarrytown, Friday, Feb. 5 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
