Quantico: Alex Gets a Major Clue

After Sunday's Quantico, Alex only has one more task to do for the caller, to which we can all say: Thank God!

Actually, the caller has a name, or nickname rather. Alex (Priyanka Chopra) and Simon (Tate Ellington) tell Hannah (Eliza Coupe) that they've been calling him The Voice. What great free promotion for The Voice. But I guess Rising Star doesn't really work. Hannah, the voice of reason (no pun intended), rightfully points out how Alex told her and Simon about this whole nonsense even though The Voice told her that anyone she tells would be in danger. She's also the first and only person who wants to brief the FBI director, much to Alex's dismay. "You're gambling with the lives of everyone I care about," Alex says. Which is just LOL. Pot, kettle.

Hannah says she will wait 24 hours, but in the meantime, she puts herself on the protection detail for Claire (Marcia Cross), who feels faint during an event after taking The Voice's pills. Taking no chances, Hannah tackles an EMT rushing to her aid and gets reprimanded. Strike 1. She then provokes The Voice, who calls with the penultimate task: Put an envelope underneath seat K15 at Claire's town hall at Columbia University that night. The envelope contains a chip that can knock out power in the surrounding area. So, yup, the power goes out during the town hall. Believing The Voice will assassinate Claire, Hannah fires her gun upward. Strikes 2 and 3. She's suspended until further notice.

One person who's not happy about this: Ryan (Jake McLaughlin), who had noticed Alex and Hannah talking earlier, and Alex hiding the envelope. He puts two and two together to get five: He thinks Alex set up Hannah because she was coming after her. "I'm coming after you now and I will do whatever it takes to get you," he snarls. You know, if this were the past, you could just add "in bed" to the end of that.

Hannah, however, didn't foil anything. The Voice was never planning on killing Claire. Simon tells Alex that during the blackout, the lab underneath the auditorium was robbed, but police haven't logged what was stolen yet. Once again, everyone is on top of it. "Our first real clue," Alex says, as The Voice calls to alert her of her impending final task. Maybe The Voice stole half a brain from the lab and now wants Alex to implant it into her head? No?

- In the past, Shelby (Johanna Braddy) copes with the news of her parents being alive by turning into a raging sexaholic. When Caleb (Graham Rogers) rebuffs her, she becomes determined to solve the assignment of the week: handle hijackers on a plane (Lest we forget, her parents fake-died on one of the 9/11 flights. Subtle, guys.) But like literally every assignment before it, it's actually unsolvable! These assignments of the week are a microcosm of the show: It's twist after twist after twist, and we all lose.

- The cult Caleb was in is called Sistemics, which owns the patent to podcasts (wait, that's not Squarespace?). It's also basically Scientology, and Caleb's BFF Ross Edwards is basically Shelly Miscavige. Caleb crafted his Mark Raymond persona to infiltrate the Church to rescue Ross, who hasn't been heard from since he tried to leave after Caleb's defection. But now there is a new head of the Church, Dan Berlin, who knows what Caleb looks like, so his guise won't work. Olsen (Jay Armstrong Johnson), weirdly, is way into helping Caleb and volunteers as tribute. He's perfect for it, you see, because he can mimic people. That's why he keeps everyone's photos taped to his underwear drawer, and he Xs out the ones he can mimic. Nope, not creepy at all! But Caleb has Olsen right where he wants him: He later tells Clayton over the phone that the "operation hit a snag, but I solved it. Dad, he's perfect." Perfect for what? Is Olsen the Katie Holmes to the Sistemics' Tom Cruise?!

- Nimah and Raina (Yasmine Al Massri) debate whether to tell the review board investigating the attack on the Academy that Miranda (Aunjanue Ellis) ordered Raina to work the terrorist cell. Miranda decides to tell them herself and subsequently steps down from her post. Liam (Josh Hopkins) calls in reinforcements: Ryan. Duh.

- That "friend" Raina saw on New Year's Eve? Simon.

- Hannah tells Alex that she and Ryan broke up after she fell in love with a fellow undercover agent, who was a woman. Since we've already established that Hannah is Jane from Happy Endings, I choose to believe she ditched him for Brad. Upgrade.
