It all started when a fan posted on Ricky‘s Instagram, “[What] about you and Ariana????” We all want to know.”

Ariana took the time to respond to the fan and you can see what she wrote in response in the gallery below.

If you don’t know, Ricky was one of the exes that Ariana sang about in her new song “Thank U, Next.” Pete Davidson, Big Sean, and Mac Miller are also mentioned.

Ariana Grande‘s ex Ricky Alvarez has something to say about his mention in her new song “thank u, next!”

The 25-year-old singer gave a shout-out to her former tour dancer with the lyrics, “Wrote some songs about Ricky/ Now I listen and laugh.”

Ricky – who knew about the line before the song was released – took to his Instagram Stories to post a video of himself listening to the song and zooming in when his name was dropped.

“HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH IM SORRY U GOT THE WORST LINE,” Ariana replied. “It was meant v lovingly.”

“Nothing but gratitude,” Ricky shared. “Thank u, next. … (those songs are fire tho… you’re welcome).”

Ariana was first linked to Ricky in the summer of 2015. Their split was confirmed a year later in 2016.

Ariana Grande and her backup dancer boyfriend Ricky Alvarez have called it quits, according to ET.

The 23-year-old singer met Ricky when he became a dancer on her tour and they have been linked since last summer, when he was spotted with her during their infamous donut-licking incident.

Ariana has hinted at the split on social media, deleting photos of the couple together on Instagram.

“life is wild and change is f**king fantastic,” Ariana wrote on her Twitter.

She later added, “why do y’all always gotta be right about everything. I love you. ty for loving me and caring and having my best interest at heart. I love u.”

Ariana Grande and her boyfriend Ricky Alvarez arrive at Haneda Airport on Monday (April 11) in Tokyo, Japan.

Earlier in the weekend, the 22-year-old entertainer performed on the 2016 MTV Movie Awards! Be sure to watch her jazzy performance of “Dangerous Woman,” accompanied on the piano by composer Jason Robert Brown.
