I call it the “beast”. It blows such freezing air and blows it across the room. No more need to shut my bedroom door to keep cold air in. My cats hate my door shut. With this my bedroom is freezing with the door open. I love this ac! It is very heavy so I needed help putting it in the window but totally worth it. my remote doesn’t work but I don’t need it. I keep mine on full blast 24/7 to cool down my entire upstairs. I love this ac!!

    Unit works very well, it cools our entire 600 square foot 1st floor of the house. As quiet as you can expect a window unit to be, news flash for all the retards complaining about how loud it is. All window units are loud, if you want quiet and cool get central air.

    Unit was damaged by the delivery woman who tossed out on the porch. I'm sure most of the people on here who got a damaged unit had the same problem. Amazon made it right though, they have me a refund and let me keep the unit for being a valued and long time customer.
    But it still is the best window unit I ever bought!!!!

    Before I bought this I couldn't find any reviews for it online, so was a little hesitant. I found a few sites that referred to 'over 80 positive customer reviews', but none were actually posted anywhere. Then there's the idea of buying an air conditioner from RCA? Really?? However, in mid-July it's hard to find an energy star a.c. in the stores. Apparently they buy a batch in the beginning of the season, & when they're gone, they're gone.
    Glad we took a chance.
    Very easy to install & so much lighter than the 17 yr old unit it replaced. High EER. Runs very quietly & does a good job of cooling our living room/dining room/family room area. Nice features. When we first got it, I laughed at the idea of a remote control for an a.c., & put that in the drawer. Three days later I got it back out again. It's nice being able to change the air from across the room.
    The only thing that would make it a little bit better is if the air diverters worked independently. You can adjust them, but they turn in unison, so even tho it looks as if there are two, there's really only one. Also, you can't direct the air up or down all that well, just mostly left or right.
    All in all, for the price, it's a great unit that does a marvelous job keeping the place cool.

    Lower left rear corner was cracked and bent (dropped) and the rear condenser fins were smashed down in five or six places. Installed anyway and most of this is cosmetic. The fins hurt a little but not enough of them bent to impede performance.

    Unit seems to cool nicely and I needed a compact width for my horizontal window opening. It's only like 19" wide so it fit my 22" wide opening just fine. I closed and secured the window against the side and cut a piece of clear plexiglas to cover the opening above the unit. Unit came with some large foam strips and a thinner piece of foam with one sided adhesive. That was helpful. Unit is not too heavy either, I lifted and installed myself.

    It seems to be pretty efficient also (not an energy hog). When I turn it on it doesn't dim the lights in my room or blow circuit breakers. The plug also has a circuit breaker / reset buttons on it which is nice.

    Overall, I feel I should get a discount for the damages and RCA needs to go back on the shippers. I saw reviews where many are arriving damaged.

    Cooling and drying features are very effective. The thermal sensor is a few degrees off though, when set to 66 degrees, it actually cools to 69. The remote is not that good though. More pressure than expected on the very smooth button surface to actuate a command. The AC is tremendous but the remote needs work.

    Item arrived damaged. Amazon refunded the money and I decided to give the unit a try. So far, it seems to work pretty well on the highest setting with the temperature as low as it will go. I will note, however, that the unit builds up an extraordinary amount of condensation. It's like a waterfall, so I put plants underneath it to benefit from the run off. It's also not a very loud unit, but it does vibrate quite a bit on the high setting. As far as the money goes, this was the best option for 12,000 BTU.

    The AC crapped out after 6 weeks. The control panel completely stopped responding and the AC simply no longer works. Avoid at all costs.

    I bought this air conditioner three years ago and it is going strong with no issues. It is currently keeping a 1000 sq ft house cool in the hot summers of Oklahoma.
    My electric bill is quite low so it must be pretty efficient
    The only issue is that if there is even a brief energy disruption in a storm, the unit turns off and has to be turned back on manually. So if the power goes out during the day, your air conditioner will be off until you get home
    Other than that, I love it
