For those looking for a bit of peace and quiet, a house which will breathe new life into a Victorian barracks is soon to be available for about £2 million.

In the middle of the English Channel and covering only 78 square kilometres, the island of Guernsey approved plans to change the historic Fort Richmond into a three-storey luxury house.

Complete with an atrium and a wine cellar, the property boasts a sense of isolation, along with panoramic views of the Channel.

Built in 1856 for the British military and changing hands to the Germans during WWII, it has been abandoned for the past 30 years.

Perhaps, it is time for the ultimate sea change if you need some security and indulgence.
