Four members of Teamsters Local 25 were indicted on extortion charges for alleged harassment of a television production crew associated with the filming of 'Top Chef' in Boston, according to reports. At the time of the alleged incident, the Teamsters denied harassing Padma Lakshmi and the 'Top Chef' crew during filming at Steel & Rye in Milton in June 2014.
Mark Harrington, 61, of Andover; John Fidler, 51, of Holbrook; Daniel Redmond, 47, of Medford; and Robert Cafarelli, 45, of Middleton, were arrested Wednesday. The indictment did not mention 'Top Chef' by name, but alleged the men conspired to pressure the show's production company to employ fellow Teamsters for unnecessary work, according to the announcement from U.S. Attorney Carmen Ortiz's office. The show had hired its own employees for filming.
The four men reportedly entered the filming location in Milton and "yelled racial and homophobic slurs at the film crew and others, threatened crew and cast members, and shouted profanities," the U.S. Attorney's office said.
Ortiz referred to the alleged actions as "thug tactics," saying they reflected "poorly on our city."
