Safety specialists from Euro NCAP released the results of the new Audi A4, Honda HR-V, Honda Jazz and Volkswagen Caddy.

The new generation of the Audi A4 is the most talked-about vehicle in Euro NCAP’s hands these days. The mid-sized car was awarded with a maximum 5-star safety rating for adult, child and pedestrian protection.

It was also commended for its standard multi-collision brake assist system and for the Audi pre-sense system, available as an option. The pre-sense city warns the driver of an imminent impact and, if necessary, applies emergency braking at speeds up to 85 km/h (53 mph). The tested car was an A4 2.0 TDI S Tronic Sedan.

Achieving the maximum 5-star safety rating from Euro NCAP were two models made by Honda, the HR-V and the smaller Jazz. For the crossover, the European safety specialists awarded it with 86 percent in Adult Occupant, 79 percent in Child Occupant, 72 percent in Pedestrian and 71 percent in Safety Assist. The supermini did slightly better with 93 percent, 85 percent, 73 percent and 71 percent, respectively, in the aforementioned categories.

Last but not least, Euro NCAP took on the Volkswagen Caddy which proved to be safe enough for occupants, but not that clever when it came to pedestrian and safety assist systems. The European agency gave it a 4-star rating, scoring 84 percent in Adult Occupant, 78 percent in Child Occupant, only 58 percent in Pedestrian and 68 percent in Safety Assist
