AHL forward Brett Gallant collapses, stretchered off bench vs. Marlies

Lake Erie Monsters forward Brett Gallant was taken off on a stretcher at Ricoh Coliseum in Toronto after experiencing a medical emergency while on the bench.

A scary situation unfolded Friday night in a AHL game between the Lake Erie Monsters and Toronto Marlies.

Monsters forward Brett Gallant reportedly collapsed on the bench and was taken off on a stretcher at Ricoh Coliseum.

According to Lake Erie coach Jared Bednar, Gallant experienced a fainting spell.

“All indications are that he’s fine,” Bednar told THN’s Ryan Kennedy. “When he left here, he was up talking and walking around. They were going to take him to the hospital to run some tests and make sure nothing more serious was going on. We haven’t heard anything more than he’s doing fine.”

Gallant, 27, has appeared in 47 games for Lake Erie this season and has played in the AHL since the 2009-10 season.
