Remasters have become a significant part of the games that are released each year and with a lot of fans embracing them with arms wide open, there isn't much sign of those slowing down anytime soon. It's not just people who haven't played these games before that are picking up remasters, it's also people who want to rediscover them on a new generation.
Final Fantasy 7 has come back under the spotlight thanks to the release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, but is it worth replaying the original?
Very much so. Graphically it's dated but the story and the gameplay haven't aged a day. It's still one of my all time favourite RPGs and for me is better than Remake in some ways.

Rise of the ronin sold twice as much as Dragons Dogma 2 this week...but no articles about that. It's only news if a PS exclusive is being outsold.
"Final Fantasy 7 is a PlayStation 4 exclusive remake"

I'm sure most expected this though given Sonys previous ties to the IP.
I can't wait until the PC version . Thank the 12 this is only a PlayStation first title. I immensely enjoyed the game on PC way back when it was released for Windows back in 1998.
I absolutely adored the PS1 trio of FF VII, VIII, and IX. Any RPG fan owes it to themselves to experience those games.
I am happy new players will experience FF VII, and it seems older fans are largely very excited to replay this updated version. I am personally a bit disappointed, though.
A few years ago, Wada was clear that they would not look to release a remake of VII until they released a game that exceeded it. I respected that. The consensus is clear that the series has lost a lot of what (and who) made it great over recent titles. I wanted them to give us a new title that was at least as great as the FF of old, if not better.
I understand that this release will make a ton of money. Despite the rocky development schedules we've been seeing lately, and the strange info coming out about Nomura's role in this remake, I think it will be a solid title, and they will do it right.
But truthfully, I really hope XV is a better game. I don't mean to come down on this remake, but new is always better to me. Simply put, the old philosophy of trying to best their previous efforts was the better position for life-long FF fans, in my opinion.
