With The Daily Show behind him, Jon Stewart is still using his powers to defend the defenseless — a bull named Frank Lee.

The animal, named after an Alcatraz prison escapee, made a run for it Friday morning while being transported to a slaughterhouse in Jamaica, Queens in New York. Footage of Frank was shot by bystanders as he ran around a field at the York College campus.

An eyewitness told WABC, “There was a guy swinging his rope, he was going to catch it. He looked pretty confident, I was scared.”

CNN reports Frank was subdued and relocated to the Animal Care Center in Brooklyn. Jon and his wife, author and animal activist Tracey Stewart, were notified of the incident by the Farm Sanctuary, which negotiated the animal’s release. The organization posted a video and statement to Facebook on Saturday to confirm Frank’s safety, thanks to the efforts of the Stewarts.

“We are happy to report that the bull who was on the run earlier today in Queens is safe and on his way to Farm Sanctuary in Watkins Glen, NY,” the statement read. “Jon and Tracey Stewart picked up the individual whom we are calling Frank this afternoon from Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC).”
