Dwyane Wade made an uninvited appearance at Kobe Bryant’s press conference following the Lakers’ 102–100 overtime win over the Heat on Wednesday.

Wade popped in to tell Bryant that they needed to go talk and that his family was waiting on him outside. Bryant laughed, unfazed by the interruption, and suggested that Wade would serve as somewhat of a replacement for the Lakers legend after his retirement.

“By the way, he knows he’s going to be the oldest guy in the league next year,” Bryant said with a laugh. “I love him. He’s a vicious competitor. He’s vicious. He’s mean. We could have those type of battles, then, afterwards hang out and have a conversation. And lace them up and go right back at it. I enjoyed competing against him.”

At 34, Wade is hardly the oldest player in the NBA, but his 13 seasons of professional experience have included plenty of matchups against 37-year-old Bryant during his 20 seasons in the league.

Wednesday marked the final time Wade and Bryant will face each other in an NBA game.
