Hampshire Constabulary History Society are collating information on members of the Hampshire Constabulary and its constituent forces who lost their lives during the two World Wars. Bournemouth was then part of the county of Hampshire, not Dorset as it is today.

The Society aim to publish a memorial book dedicated to the memory of these men and would like to hear from relatives, friends and ex-colleagues who may be able to provide information, photographs and memories of those who died.

Police constables from Bournemouth in WW1 include, Thomas Todd of the Grenadier Guards, William McPherson of the Scots Guards, and Coldstream Guards Harry Goodman, Edfred Dowling and Frederick Bew, plus Albert Moody from Christchurch who served with the Hampshire Regiment.

During WW2 Special Constable Moore and Police War Reserve John Style from Bournemouth, and Christchurch constables Arthur Courtney Barrett ( pictured ), John King and Henry Bright serving with the RAF also lost their lives.
