Singer Billy Joel has dropped the asking price for his Manalapan estate in Florida to $US27 million.
The epic 1227sqm property is made up of two blocks – one is a large plot of vacant land the other features a gorgeous waterfront home.
Both blocks were listed late last year for a combined $US29 million, but the mansion was taken off the market until recently.
The piano man isn’t only the celebrity struggling to sell with Celine Dion, 50 Cent, P Diddy, J Lo as well as John Krasinski and his wife Emily Blunt, plus Eddie Murphy and Slash among the A-listers unable to shift their mega mansions.
Joel – who has quite a property portfolio – bought the stylish villa and the nearby block less than two years ago. He reportedly paid $US11.8 million for the house and is said to have spent a further $US6.5 million on the vacant block.
The fully furnished grand house features a hand painted Pesky Cypress ceiling, a two-storey living room, seven bedrooms in the main house, seven bathrooms, a guesthouse with two bedrooms, a four-car garage, a fountain hot tub, a mosaic-tiled swimming pool, a private dock and a boardwalk.
Separated by Ocean Boulevard, the two properties offer the deep-pocketed buyer impressive waterfront views.
Real estate agency Jack Elkins describes the refurbished manor as “Modern Mediterranean Island Transitional” and insist it offers well-heeled buyers a “gracious lifestyle” with “a comfortable beach chic feel”.
The title on the property lists South Ocean Living as the owner of the mansion, but the company is managed by a Miami law firm with ties to the singer. Assuming a buyer is willing to pay the asking price, Joel could still make quite a profit from the sale.
The singer owns another property in the area, a seven-bedroom mansion with a private beach called the Paradisio del Mar located further up the same road, which he reportedly paid $US22 million for back in February.
