NSYNC members react to Adele breaking their record

Tuesday, Billboard reported that Adele’s 25 sold 2.433 million copies in the first four days of its release, topping previous single-week album sales record holders *NSYNC. The boy band had sold 2.416 million copies of No Strings Attached in March 2000, and the guys are taking the defeat in stride.

“Congratulations!!” Lance Bass tweeted Tuesday, followed by the hashtag #IDemandARecount.

JC Chasez also gave Adele a nod on Twitter.

Fellow former *NSYNC member Joey Fatone confessed he’s flattered just to be considered alongside the British singer — he even purchased 25. “Adele is the truth,” Fatone told Billboard, “ kinda excited a rare talent like hers is in the same breath as our group.”

Still, he felt somewhat shocked to have the band’s title taken away. “Records are always meant to be broken,” Fatone admits to the trade, “but with technology and current music business model, I thought this one would be tough to beat.”

No word from Justin Timberlake or Chris Kirpatrick yet.
