Abstract: Objective To study whether vascular endothelial growth factor( VEGF)-1154 C /T( rs1570360)polymorphism is associated w ith susceptibility in acute coronary syndrome( ACS) and its interaction w ith smoking. Methods Totally 298 patients w ith ACS and 636 healthy control subjects w ere genotyped by polymerase chain reaction-based restriction fragment length polymorphism( PCR-RFLP). The unconditional logistic regression( ULR) w as performed to assess the association betw een rs1570360 and ACS risk. Gene-environment interactions on the risk of ACS w as explored by unconditional logistic regression methods. Results The case-control analysis indicated that increased risk of ACS w hich w as found in patients w ith VEGF rs1570360. The data from ULR method indicated that smokingpositive subjects w ith genotype CT / TT had 3. 33 times risk of ACS compared to smoking-negative subjects w ith genotype CC( OR = 3. 33,95% CI: 2. 01-5. 39,P < 0. 001) after adjusting for covariates. Conclusion VEGF rs1570360 is associated w ith risk of ACS,and that rs1570360 together w ith smoking has synergistic effects on risk of ACS.
