Actress Penny Marshall, best known for her role as Laverne DeFazio in Laverne and Shirley, is selling her lavish New York penthouse.

The 72-year-old is looking to offload the $5.5 million Upper West Side penthouse she purchased in the 1980s, during her role on the show which earned her three Golden Globe nominations.

The exclusive 167 sqm property has retained its charming pre-war details which feature heavily in Upper West Side apartments including high 3.3 metre ceilings, hardwood floors, panelled doors and original hardware.

The spacious kitchen offers ample space for hosting guests and dinner parties, while the wood-burning fireplace is enough to keep potential buyers warm during the coldest New York nights.
