These two grammar tenses are usually misused by my
students. Since for my students English
is the second language they are studying, most find it hard to get general idea
of the text. We study tenses separately and then we come across a line in the dialogue
with both of them. And they are overwhelmed:
These two tenses usually have only several situations
where they can meet within one sentence.
- The action, which was going on
at some time in the past, was interrupted by another action. - As Past Continuous shows the action in progress
at
specific time in the past, the key is to understand how this specific moment is indicated.
