I got the creme Brulee donut and tbh I am unclear what the hype is or maybe I've been to many donut places and now have a good reference.
The desserts were somewhat creative but some flavors like brown sugar looked just like a sugar donut.
Look, I'm not trying to be a hater but maybe dc doesn't have too many good donut places so they're hype about this one?? Idk, I will continue trying to understand what the locals are talking about.
Overall it is a solid donut, you should try and form your own opinion.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Dec 3, 2023
Lovely small shop. I really liked seeing donut flavors I don't usually see...I chose the vanilla crème brûlée. It came out warm and the brûlée was done well! It was such a tasty donut, lol. Walking distance to the Eastern Market metro stop and Valor brewing.

Who doesn't love doughnuts? District Doughnut and Coffee is one of the main DC-area doughnut shops, so is worth checking out for anyone visiting the area. For solid doughnuts of a variety of flavors, there's something for everyone.
I visited District Doughnut and Coffee on a weekday morning and the place was pretty quiet. This particular location is in the Eastern Market neighborhood, along 8th Street where all the eateries are. It's not a far walk from Navy Yard or Capitol Hill. The shop itself is small, with just window bar seating available.
The doughnut flavors change out every month, with a good amount to choose from, with cake doughnuts or a more traditional, fried one with a hole in the middle. I ordered a red velvet one to go, and hours later, the doughnut was solid. Plus, they serve Compass Coffee here. No complaints.Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nov 28, 2022
Stopped by for a quick snack while I was shopping around. Service was quick and efficient. They wrapped my donut up nicely to go.
I loved all the seasonal flavors they had to offer. I ordered the brown butter donut but am hoping to go back and try their cinnamon crème brûlée, maple butter pecan, apple cider, and caramel apple pie donuts. Curious as to how their everything bagel flavored donut tastes. They definitely have unique options and a wide variety of flavors.
They are the perfect size and the dough is the right consistency, making them sweet and not too chewy.Helpful 12Thanks 0Love this 9Oh no 0 - Jan 29, 2023
This is a cute quaint little quiet donut shop. A display of the different donuts being sold sits to the right as you walk toward the counter. There are three screens up front to place orders on and then the order is filled in the back after paying. A small counter facing the window is for seating and a couple of tables are outside to sit at. Customer service was nice and friendly.
Well at 2pm they were sold out of the brown butter donut and sour cream old fashioned. I always order a glazed donut for a baseline and benchmark to compare with other donut shops. I was not a fan of the vanilla glazed donut. The vanilla flavor did not come through and it was a little dry. Unfortunately it was very similar to a Walmart donut. The vanilla funfetti donut was decent but not enough to win me over as well as the apple cider donut. I wasn't impressed buy these contemporary donuts and they were not worth the price.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Tara B.Washington, DC01Apr 5, 2024
THINK TWICE BEFORE USING DELIVERY SERVICE.
We really love these doughnuts so I planned a birthday surprise delivery for my husband to take a dozen into work. The delivery dis not happen as scheduled and I spent the better part of 45 minutes on a busy morning trying to track it down and trouble shoot. The birthday boy ended up having to pick up his own doughnuts and it is unclear that my delivery fee will be refunded. All could have been avoided if I had just picked them up myself (but hey DD, maybe don't offer delivery if it doesn't really work? And be ready to troubleshoot that?).
Delicious and beautiful doughnuts though!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Noam H.Newtonville, Newton, MA0161Mar 23, 2024
although the service was good, that was all that is recommendable about this place. My partner and I had heard about District Doughnut through a few different recommendation sources including directly in our hotel app and were excited to try it. We tried the blueberry, the cookies and crème, and the brown sugar doughnuts and all three of them tasted unfresh and borderline stale as well. We were very disappointed to say the least.

Came to DC and knew I had to try District Doughnut. It's definitely a step above Dunkin' Donuts but can't say I was amazed by it. I came exactly at 6am when they opened and the donuts weren't warm at all. The flavors are mediocre.
