Super Bowl 50: Beyoncé rocks halftime show

After releasing brand new song “Formation” and its music video on Saturday, Beyoncé joined Coldplay and Bruno Mars at the Super Bowl halftime show Sunday to perform the track and announce a world tour.

Wearing a black leather one-piece with gold accents that paid homage to Michael Jackson’s outfit worn during the 1993 Super Bowl halftime show, she ran through the song on the field with an entourage of back-up dancers in similar costumes. She and co-guest star Bruno Mars also remixed the song with Mars and Mark Ronson’s mega-hit “Uptown Funk” and bars of “Crazy in Love.” (Coldplay frontman Chris Martin joined them both for the final moments of “Funk.”)

She and Mars also joined the band to sing Coldplay’s “Up & Up,” as the stadium turned colorful signs to say “Believe in Love.”

After the show wrapped up, a simple black ad appeared on the screen announcing Beyoncé would go on the “Formation” world tour. The clip directed fans to Beyoncé’s website and said tickets would be available on Feb. 15.

Rumors began circulating last year that Beyoncé, who performed at the Super Bowl halftime show in 2013, would be one of Coldplay’s surprise guests, and her appearance was confirmed in the weeks leading up to the show.

Halftime show director Hamish Hamilton teased that Coldplay’s set would feature special guests in an interview with EW weeks before the show: “There are always guests. I don’t see why this show would be different.”
