Abstract: Objective: To establish a method for determination of paraquat in plasma by reversed phase ion-pair HPLC. Methods: The Discovery C18 column was used for separation and the mobile phase consisted of a mixture of acetonitril-sodium heptanesulfonate solution(12 ∶88, v ∶v). The plasma proteins were precipitated by 10% trichloroacetic acid. The flow-rate was 1.0 m L ·min-1, and the detection wavelength was 258 nm. Results: The detection limit of the method was 0.1 μg·m L-1. The linear calibration curves were obtained in concentration range of 0.1-10.0 μg·m L-1. The intra- and inter-day RSD were3.77% and 10.60%, respectively. The average recovery was above 89.31%. Conclusion: The method is simple and rapid, which can be used for determination of paraquat in human plasma.
