Massachusetts police save deer from ice on cranberry bog

PLYMPTON , Mass., Jan. 22 (UPI) -- Police in Massachusetts rescued two deer from an icy cranberry bog on Friday morning.

Plympton police shared photos of the rescue after receiving word that two deer had fallen through ice in the bog and remained trapped there since early in the morning.

Police and local firefighters arrived on the scene and were able to pull the animals from the freezing water using a catch pole.

Once on solid ground, the deer rested briefly and eventually fled into the nearby woods.

Plympton police report that the deer walked away from the incident with only minor injuries.
