Army chief visits Serbian peacekeepers in Cyprus

Chief-of-Staff of the Serbian Army (VS) Gen. Ljubisa Dikovic has visited the soldiers deployed as part of the UN peacekeeping mission in Cyprus.

Army chief visits Serbian peacekeepers in Cyprus

The Serbian “blue helmets“ are very well trained and able to adequately present Serbia through their outstanding performance, Dikovic said, according to Tanjug.

So far, a total of 368 VS soldiers have served in the UN mission in Cyprus, and currently 46 are there, the Ministry of Defense said.

Dikovic will travel to Lebanon on Tuesday, where 177 Serbian peacekeepers serve as part of the EU peacekeeping mission.

Members of the Serbian MoD and the VS are currently deployed in UN peacekeeping missions in Congo, Liberia, Ivory Coast, the Central African Republic, and the Middle East, and also in EU multinational operations in Somalia and Mali.
