Bills vs. Patriots, 2015 NFL Week 11: Leodis McKelvin misses Thursday practice

An illness cost Mario Williams all but eight snaps in last week's game, and now Bills defensive back Leodis McKelvin is missing practice time due to illness.

The Buffalo Bills began their three-day practice work week on Thursday, in preparation for a Monday Night Football game against the New England Patriots, with one notable player absence: defensive back Leodis McKelvin missed today's session due to illness.

Just last week, defensive end Mario Williams missed the vast majority of the Bills' win over the New York Jets with an illness, as well. Williams returned to practice this week, but now McKelvin is missing practice time due to illness. (Note: no one has confirmed that it's the same illness. It may just be weird timing.)

Since returning to the active roster two weeks ago following a full year dealing with an ankle injury, McKelvin has immediately assumed a significant role in the Bills' defensive backfield, playing as a passing-down safety in a package rotation with fellow defensive backs Duke Williams and Bacarri Rambo. That playing time is available because starting safety Aaron Williams is on IR with a neck injury.

The Bills will hold practices on Friday and Saturday, with the full injury report coming out on Saturday, so McKelvin's status will be something to keep an eye on through the weekend.
