Humboldt Distillery

Weed is now legal in at least some form in 23 U.S. states, and the marijuana business is booming. Growers are coming up with all kinds of new ways to ingest the plant, from fancy edibles to THC-infused coffee pods, so it was really just a matter of time until cannabis spirits hit the market. A new microdistillery in Humboldt County, California — an area famous for growing prized cannabis strains — is now producing weed-infused vodka.

Sipping this spirit will not get you stoned, however; per California law, it contains less than a third of a percent of THC. But lack of psychoactive effects aside, the new spirit could help jazz up your liquor cabinet: At 40 percent ABV it will definitely still get you drunk, and according to the distillery, "it works well in place of gin, giving classic cocktails a fresh new spin" with herbal notes.

Cocktail aficionados who wish to combine their drinking and smoking vices have plenty of other options, however: Making weed vodka at home is a simple enough procedure. Alternatively, sommeliers have plenty of suggestions for pairing wine with weed.
