Nearly 1,400 people took the trek to the Immaculate Conception School in Tuckahoe, where they raised $18,000 that will be used to alleviate hunger and promote proper nutrition in Eastchester, Mount Vernon and Yonkers.
The annual event, now in its sixth year, has become a staple in Eastchester. Each year, it provides children have the opportunity to climb aboard the bulldozers, tractor-trailers, fire trucks and other civic vehicles that help support the community each day.

New this year was the “Curto’s Canned-Goods Challenge,” a food drive, in which attendees donated 501 items, with Curto’s Appliances making a donation of $1 each to the Junior League of Bronxville for ever can collected.
Michelle Schoulder, the Vice-President of Fundraising for the Junior League of Bronxville noted that without the community’s involvement, the Touch-a-Truck would not have become the overwhelming success it is.
“We are proud to host an event that has become a tradition for so many families,” she said. “It truly highlights the best of our community, from the generosity of the Parish of Immaculate Conception to the support of our sponsors and exhibitors that contribute to making the event a special day for all that join us.
“Ultimately, the event would not be the success that it is without the passion of our Junior League of Bronxville members that volunteer their talents and time.”
