Timbi's Dream

Rate this book
Timbi’s Dream is an adventure in rhyme. The updated 2019 edition contains much improved rhyming, which stirs the imagination in young minds and make it leap into a different plane, as one follows Timbi’s adventures in a sequence of dreams.

This is brought on by the effect of a strange jar of ointment his grandmother has left behind, on her last visit. His mother uses the ointment to soothe Timbi’s ears when they turn red after sunburn. However, it has a very strange effect on Timbi that night, when he goes to sleep. He suddenly finds he can fly.

As he flies out of his window to meet a little girl and together they have great fun flying around. The next day when Timbi tries to tell his mum and brothers about it, nobody believes him.

Timbi forgets about the dream as his ears get better until a few days later when his ears get sunburned again and his mother puts more cream on them. He then has a similar dream again. What can Timbi do to convince his brothers?

The whole story is told in simple rhyme form which makes it more interesting for young children and can help aid learning ability and reasoning. There is also a twist at the end of the story to fire their imagination.

Having completed several Creative Writing courses, including at Birkbeck and Faber, I took up writing seriously in 2012.
My first novel ‘The Arbitrator’ was published in July 2016 and 'Get Rich or Get Lucky' was published in January 2017. Both books enjoyed surprising success and great reviews. Updated versions of Get Rich or Get Lucky and The Arbitrator (with two new chapters) along with e-books were published on Amazon in 2019.
My two new novels 'The Polymorph' and 'The Three Witches and The Master' are now ready and hopefully will be published in 2022.
l have also written two plays, one of which, 'Cheating Death' has been successfully produced on stage in February/March 2019 at The Cockpit Theatre, London. It ran for three weeks and enjoyed surprising success. Further novels are at a planning stage.
An updated version 'Timbi's Dream' a children's fantasy story in rhyme was republished in 2019 as an e-book only and features more improved rhymes.

Timbi's dreams is a great book for young children, as the characters look so authentic with a twist of vivid imagination of dreams of Timbi. My 8 years old daughter enjoyed the rhymes as she connected with the story so well, she understood what is coming next. After she read the book she has tried to make her own story by using similar rhymes in 'Timbi's Dreams'. It is a pleasure to enjoy the images as it gives an impression that the pictures are simple but memorable for young children. Well done!

I have read Timbi's book with great interest as I have many of my friend's children pointing to the great colorful pictures. The book is funny and is written with great imagination as it shows how children like to see things beyond their own reality ( a world of fantasy and happiness).

Timbi’s Dream by Max Nowaz

I received a complimentary copy and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Timbi’s Dream is a children's book written by Max Nowaz. A delightful story set in rhyme, a tale to discover Timbi, accompanied by adorable illustrations.
Timbi, applying a cream to ease sunburn, falls asleep and discovers he can fly!

"Wake up Timbi, this is not a dream.
Would you like to come play with me,
I have come from far across the sea."

It filled his night with wonder as he explored unfamiliar places and met new friends. But unfortunately for Timbi, neither his mother nor his brothers believe him when he describes what happened. So Timbi sets out to find a solution so they can realise he is speaking the truth.

Timbi’s Dream is a book that both children and parents will love. Children will love reading about a little boy who can fly, and parents will love reading the rhymes that weave magic for their children. I loved the writing technique, and the illustrations portrayed the events perfectly. Poor Timbi, his family does not believe his adventures. But this story shows his determination and initiative to prove his experiences as truth.

I saw nothing not to like, therefore I rate Timbi’s Dream 5 out of 5 stars. This book will be a valuable addition to any family bookshelf.

"Wake up Timbi, this is not a dream.
Would you like to come to play with me?
I have come from far across the sea."

A young boy named Timbi has weird dreams in which he soars through the air. He has been rubbing some medicinal lotion on his ears, and it seems to be causing them. When he tries it with his brothers, they also participate. Other surprises exist as well, but I won't reveal them.

It made his nights full of wonder as he travelled to different locations and made new pals. Unfortunately for Timbi, his mother and brothers do not accept his account of what took place. Timbi, therefore, sets out to find a solution so that they will understand he is telling the truth. It's such a lovely and inspiring little book for little humans.

Timbi is a small child with a big imagination which comes alive in his dreams.

The idea with which the book was written is lovely, it is told with great inventiveness and it rhymes adding to the accent of the tale. A great little book that ignited my child’s imagination, and I’m sure it will be the case for other children reading about Timbi, too.

My daughter really loved Timbi’s Dream. She said it was a colourful and fun story, and the lovely illustrations are what engaged her enough so she wanted to read it again by herself.

The illustrations are pretty cute and they add to the books charm. This is a fun and unique story full of enough fantasy to engage and intrigue my daughter, and I’m sure will be the same for other kids too. Definitely recommended.

Timbi’s Dream by Max Nowaz is a sweet and fun magical adventure about a little boy named Timbi who goes on a fun adventure every night when he goes to sleep, but no one believes him that it is not a dream. The story is imaginative, full of magic, and a fun read. The story itself is told entirely in rhyme which makes it fun to read aloud to small children. There are also a lot of pictures throughout the book of Timbi, his family, and the fun adventure he undertakes each night. This is a sweet bedtime read for little ones.

'Timbi's Dream' by Max Nowaz is a children's book told in rhyme, or it's supposed to be, but I found the rhyming to be pretty stilting and not very rhythmic.

Timbi is a young boy who has strange dreams of flying through the sky. They seem to be brought on by applying some medicinal cream to his ears. He tries it with his brothers and they join him too. There are other surprises too, but I won't spoil them.

There are pictures, which I found a bit crude in design. The rhyming scheme stumbles a bit. I did like the story and what happens, but the bit with the cream is just strange and keeps being a plot point. I would hope something like this wouldn't lead a young child to try to take grownup medicine.

I received a review copy of this ebook from Matador and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this ebook.

‘Would you like to come play with me, I have come from far across the sea’ – Applause!!

British author Max Nowaz has stepped away from the corporate world to devote his time to writing – novels, poetry, children’s books, and screen and stage plays. His books to date include novels THE ARBITRATOR and GET RICH OR GET LUCKY, and this children’s picture book, TIMBI’S DREAM. The illustrations are the art of Sandra Dieckman.

Fulfilling just the sort of magical stories children love, this excellent book is related in a fluid rhyming pattern that encourages young readers to turn the pages to gain more storyline and practice word play. Timbi is a young lad with two brothers, Zaza and Omar, and when he experiences sunburn to his earlobes, his mother applies sunscreen – and the magic begins. Timbi dreams of flying, but it seems more than just a dream until he shares his adventure with his family, finding an unbelieving audience. He recovers from the sunburn, and once again is exposed to sunburn. To establish the ‘reality’ of his flying in the sky, he applies sunscreen to his unbelieving brothers’ ears as well as his own, and once asleep all three join in the joy of flying in the sky. As Timbi says, ‘I told you before that I could fly like a bird. Now you are flying, you won’t think it absurd. Lets fly across the sea and meet some friends. They live in a house where the seashore bends.’ Together the brothers meet Celia, Eleanor, and Dave who also can fly, but once again on awakening Timbi relates the adventure but the brother don’t remember – until a moving van arrives and their new neighbors are – Celia, Eleanor, and Dave from France (across the sea)!

Not only is the story original and well related, but it also celebrates family, sibling interaction, and the possibility of dreams coming true! Children – and reading adults – will love this treasure. Very highly recommended.

Timbi's Dream by Max Nowaz takes children to the magical place where dreams come true. For Timbi, it was with the help of a special lotion his grandmother sent for sunburns. When Timbi used it on his sorely burnt ears, he dreamed he flew in the sky and met some wonderful siblings. Everything changed when he awoke. No one believed his dream was real. One night he secretly put the skin cream on his older and younger brothers' ears. They traveled with him to a different country. The next morning they had a wonderful surprise. Children will love the story with its rhyme and enchanting adventures.

When Timbi puts on a certain cream, he goes on an adventure at night. Everybody tells him it's a dream, but he argues otherwise.
Young children will surely enjoy reading/listening to this book. There are pictures, rhyming words, and a good story.
I think the story is magical and can help children dream about fun, magical things like meeting friends or having an adventure. If I were teaching younger kids, I would read this aloud to them, and discuss dreams as well.

I liked the rhymes, they were cute and I can see the story appealing to kids.

The artwork I had a little trouble with; they (the people's faces) were a tad creepy to be honest. I'd be reluctant about showing this to my kids, although at very young age, they wouldn't see them as anything but "people", so, don't let it discourage you in any way.

It's a cute book :)
