It seems like my iPhone 6 plus' battery is draining much quicker with the Watch using the bluetooth at all times. Is it just me or you guys experiencing the same thing?

Well, I did notice that my iPhone's battery was draining a bit quicker than when i use other Bluetooth connections, namely the Pebble. But, on the other hand, I am using my iPhone less because of my watch, so it sort of evens out in the end.

The difference is pretty noticeable for me. I think if I didn't have the 6 plus I would be out of battery by the end of the day. iPhone 6 users might have some trouble here if this is true.

Really? That seems odd, like that's A LOT of battery usage for just the Watch.

I have a regular 6, and usually a 7 hour shift at work, without checking my phone at all, drains a percentage or two. Today, with my watch connected the whole time, it drained about 15% during the same length shift. This wasn't bad at all, considering I had notifications being forwarded to my watch and used some Siri requests (which is powered by the phone).

Something definitely has to be at play here, did you use your watch very heavily?

Yep, just another reason I'm not keeping my watch. I can literally watch my percentage drop. I've never had my 6 plus drop to 3% by bedtime, it's usually 40-50%. Bluetooth is a battery killer.

Has your Bluetooth been off before you had the watch???

Or was it always on before ????

I very rarely use Bluetooth. Maybe a few times a month to stream iTunes radio to my Beats box but even then, it didn't use anywhere near the battery the watch does.

I used my Watch very heavily today (Email, Texts, Uber, 2 games, etc.) and the battery on my iPhone 6 Plus has absolutely been murdered. For the first time since I bought my iPhone 6 Plus, I had to plug it in before days end and today is probably the least I have used it since launch.

While reviewing my battery usage, apparently fetching emails from your phone to your Watch KILLS the battery. I checked my email multiple times today and as a result, E-mail killed 46% of my iPhone 6 Plus' battery life.

This is disappointing. Before getting my Watch, I thought I'd have to hold back on using it frequently to save it's battery but in fact, I have to hold back to save my iPhone's battery.

I'm surprised this isn't something that reviewers touched on.

I have a very similar situation. I have to recharge my phone now at 9pm and previously I didn't need to charge up even until 3 am.

My bluetooth was always on even before having the phone, but the difference is that when it's not paired the bluetooth is not really working, so it won't drain much battery.

Wow it seems like this is a common issue. I'm surprised also that nobody talked about this.

Impact on iPhone's Battery?

I used the watch all day today even used the golf gps on the watch for nine holes and my battery is at 69% at 1:31 am. I have been using the phone/watch since ~10am. Now, I do charge my phone in my car between drives anywhere but it's no different than my normal day and commute and I've had much worse battery days without the watch. I'm very impressed.

I've been using my 6+ and watch constantly since around 9am. Downloading apps, fiddling with settings, seeing every possible thing I could do with them. Phone is at 55% now. I charge my watch during my morning shower and night bath so that being at 80% won't tell you anything. But my phone seems to be doing fine.

Haven't really noticed any significant battery drain on the 6 Plus. Unplugged both at around 1PM. Usage on the iPhone is 1 hour, 33 minutes and standby is 10 hours, 36 minutes. Still have about 60% on the watch. Although I did take off the watch for a few hours while I was helping my parents move so I'm guessing it should probably be around 30-40% if I had kept it on.

It was a noticeably faster battery drain but not a battery killer for me. I had no problem getting through a full day.

Do you need to constantly have bluetooth on the iPhone turned on?

If you want any of the functions that require interaction with the phone, like email/text/call notifications and the like, then yes.

Thanks for the clarification! Sorry I'm a little late to the party, as I was not too excited when the watch was announced, but recently gained interested as the release date drew closer. The battery drain issue may be a deal breaker for me thought.

I put the watch on at 8 am. It is now midnight. That's 16 hours. My watch is at 38% and my iPhone 6 plus is at 84%.

I don't play games and I wasn't playing music or anything. I probably received 15 emails and 40 or so texts and a few calls that I handed off to my iPhone. I did play with Siri quite a bit - as I am still trying to get used to Siri on the watch.

I got the watch primarily for communications. During the week I recieve tons of business emails, family texts and calendar appointments.

I did play with the activity circles. That's kinda cool.

For my purposes, the :apple:watch is a home run.

I'm using my watch with a 5S. I used my watch heavily over the past couple of days and haven't noticed any significant impact on my phone battery at all.

I normally keep Bluetooth on all the time on my phone (so that it pairs with my car without needing to remember to switch it on every time) it's certainly not a battery killer for me.

I did this as well. It's 10 pm and my watch is still at 57% with fairly heavy usage. Very impressive.

However, my iPhone 5S dropped down to 20% by 4:30pm and I had to charge it back up. Usually it lasts all day with no issue, and I was using my phone less than normal.

This could be a one day thing, and my GPS apps could have been draining battery themselves. Will keep an eye on things over the next few days. Very happy with the watch though.

16 hours with Bluetooth on and your iPhone 6 plus is at 84% battery? Sorry but that's complete BS.

No, it's completely accurate. I just think I don't use some of the things that hog battery life. And btw, it is quite rude to call someone you know nothing about a liar.

Yesterday, when I received my :apple:watch, it was at 70% when I opened it. I fully admit I played with it all day and had to charge it in the early evening. I did not have to charge my iPhone 6+, but it was less than 30% at the end of the day.

My goal today was to try and have a "normal" usage day.

You may call bs if you want...but you are wrong.

If the iPhone and Watch are connected to the same wifi network, do they not use wifi to communicate rather than Bluetooth, or is Bluetooth the default means of communication?

Yes it has effected the battery of my 6 plus quite a bit but not enough to worry me. I can still get through the day with ease on a single charge. My 6 plus is a big girl she can handle it #
