TipsForJesus Blesses Server With a $5,000 Tip

The mysterious philanthropists behind the Instagram account @TipsForJesus have struck again. The megatippers have had a quiet few months, last surfacing in Salt Lake City, Utah back in September, but last week they made a very happy holiday season for a server in Los Angeles: After dining at Osteria Mozza, the Italian restaurant from Nancy Silverton, Mario Batali, and Joe Bastianich, the TipsForJesus crew reached deep into their wallets and left a $5,000 tip on a bill of $1,864.99. (That's a 268 percent tip, in case you were wondering.)

"Seriously, the Orechiette," they wrote in an Instagram caption, thanking their server Erin for a great night. It's not the first time the deep-pocketed diners struck Osteria Mozza, either: Back on Valentine's Day 2014 the power tippers dined there and left a $6,000 tip on a $900 tab. With Christmas right around the corner, don't be surprised if the @TipsForJesus Instagram account sees a sudden uptick in activity — last holiday season, they went on a multicity tipping spree to the tune of approximately $14,000.
